Ron Davies was born in Aberaeron, Wales in 1921.
At the age of eight he worked as an errand boy for the local chemist, and it was here that his interest in photography began.
He became an official WWII photographer in the Far East, in Indonesia and Singapore, and although he was confined to a wheelchair after an accident on his motorcycle in 1950, this did not end his career. He became a successful press photographer for HTV, BBC, the Western Mail, Y Cymro and national newspapers. He has held numerous one-man exhibitions, had several monographs and calendars published and has appeared on television to discuss his work.

A few words about Ron from Harry....(written in 1988)

" As a fellow photographer it gives me the greatest pleasure to write a forward to this calendar. A pleasure mixed in equal measure with sincere admiration, because Ron Davies is without doubt a lanscape photographer extraordinaire. If, for any reason you are unable to go on holiday this year, then I can honestly say the next best thing is Ron Davies' pictorial calendar. Like all great art, Ron's pictures repay continual study. It's no exaggeration to say you will soon feel yourself part of the scene you are looking at.
I first became acquainted with Ron Davies when he came on my Highway programme at Aberystwyth. I was lucky enough to be shown there some of Rons previous work and I realised that I was in the presence of a major photographic talent.
You will be aware of Rons physical handicap, but from the point of view of photography - forget it. His pictures say everything you need to know about Ron Davies - and right eloquently do they speak.
If you've reached the end of this introduction, the hardest part is over.
It's all enjoyment from now on."
